What is a DBS (Disclosure and Barring) Check?

Modified on Thu, 2 Jan at 4:16 PM

The DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate which results from a DBS Check is a document containing confidential criminal history information held by the police and government departments. It can be used by employers to make safer recruitment decisions.

 Disclosure information could include:

• Details of criminal records such as convictions and cautions;

• Information about a person’s inclusion on children’s or adults’ barred lists¹;

• Other relevant information held by a local police force or government body;

• Or state that there is no information.

A DBS for the FA needs to be FA approved/showing on your FAN record in order to be eligible to operate in any u18s activities.

If you receive a DBS certifiacte with any information detailed you will most likely be asked to send off for review. Due to GDPR restrictions no information from the DBS certificate is shared with the FA until the individual shares the certificate.
